Rajya Sabha MP Kirodi Meena said that cow is a symbol of our faith and it is a matter of great concern to find that beef is being sold in the area. The government should take strict action against the people involved in such activities. 

Ajmer MP Raghu Sharma said that the work which is not allowed by the government cannot be considered fair. The government should take strict action against cow smugglers.

Sharma also blamed the government saying that the government itself supports such incidents and then plays with the feelings of the people for votes. On the question raised about leadership in the Congress, Sharma said that there cannot be any leader greater than the discipline of the party, so whether the statements are exaggerated or deliberate, the high command should take disciplinary action against the people who give statements damaging the image of the party.

The incident of selling beef in Govindgarh had come to light on Monday. After getting the information from the villagers, the police recovered 40 kg beef and a cow’s skin from the house of a butcher.  Four of the five, including three women and a man named Shakeel, the main accused involved in selling in Govindgarh, Alwar, have been arrested by the Sattar police.  

The police have also sealed three houses of Shakeel and his relatives in the Jat Mohalla, which they were using as a godown to keep the skin and remains of several animals including cows.

Shakeel’s mother Akbari said that her son used to kill cows in jungle along with his friend and brought beef home for selling.

Additional Superintendent of Police Alwar Mool Singh Rana reached the spot and recovered the involved house by locking it. Rana also assured strict actions against the criminals. The recovered beef was buried after getting it checked from a doctor.

Houses Sealed

The police have also sealed three houses of Shakeel and his relatives in the Jat Mohalla, which they were using as a godown to keep the skin and remains of several animals including cows.
