Loktantrik Janata Dal leader Sharad Yadav has demanded that a judicial inquiry be ordered in the Muzzafarpur case. He called upon all parties to unite as has been done at the time of JP movement, this he said was the only way to take on the BJP. Yadav was addressing a press conference in Jaipur on Monday.

Yadav said that a commission should be formed to look into the rapes in Muzzafarpur. He added “CBI investigation should be monitored by Supreme Court for truth to come out. Muzzafarpur should be a lesson. All child care homes should be investigated.” Yadav said the need of the hour is for all opposition parties to consolidate and make a strong maha-gathbandhan. He said this should be much like the united opposition that was formed at the time of Jayprakash Narayan. This, he said, is the only way to take on and stop the BJP in 2019. However, he stressed that there was no need to project anyone as a prime ministerial face. The decision could be taken after polls.

Yadav came down heavily on the BJP government in Rajasthan and questioned CM Vasundhara Raje’s rationale of taking out a ‘gaurav yatra’. He said, “There is unemployment, rape of minors and lynching there is nothing to be proud about.” “What is the point of worshiping at temples and mosques. Worship the 7 crore people of the state. That is needed,” he added. Yadav avoided the question about need for providing reservation to the economically weaker sections and said that in the present scenario even reservation to the backwards was being threatened.
