Advocating continuance of reservation to the backward, the Rastriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat has opined that due to caste discrimination, a large section of the society has remained backward and till this disparity gets over, the backward class should get benefits as per the provisions of the Constitution.

Though, Bhagwat also said alone a system could not bring in equality and the society needs to have a sense of brotherhood.

Addressing the Swar Govindam closing ceremony organized by the RSS at Chitrakoot stadium on Sunday, the RSS chief did not use the "reservation" word, but supported its cause. Bhagwat said that the RSS mandated that till the end of social inequality, the deprived classes get the benefit of the provisions of the Constitution.

“These provisions should be implemented in totality and for whom they were provisioned get the benefits. Our origin never had such caste system but some selfish elements brought it to our society. This system was wrong,” said Bhagwat.

Quoting Dr Bheem Rao Ambedkar the head of RSS argued that he also was of the opinion that the system could never bring pairing in the system. “Amberdar also opined that to bring in parity, casteism must be eradicated and everyone must learn to behave in such a way that equality is restored in the country. Equality and independence cannot come together. To bring independence and equality, first there should be brotherhood.” Bhagwat said.

In his speech, the RSS head also preached over unity of the countryman while settling the differences. “India has never defeated any foreign aggressor. We lost due to mutual discrimination. On the role of Ghosh (band) in the RSS, the collective band of volunteers plays “Swarasta” and comes harmoniously (Samrasta).”

Bhagwat further said that there was no “Ran Sangeet” in Indian music. “the RSS volunteers have composed the tunes of the Ran Sangeet. The RSS Ghosh teaches the volunteers to become self-reliant, discipline and self-restraint.”

Former IAS BL Naval who was the chief guest of the event informed about Bheem Rao Ambedkar's views. Special Guest of the function Kishore Rungta, chairperson of the Hindu Spirituality and Service Foundation said that Hindu life is a method and it is not a narrow ideology or cult. The ceremony honored martyr Sunil Yadav's wife Kanta Yadav, Rajuram Samota’s wife Sumitra devi, Captain Pramod Lal’s wife Nisha Lal, Prahlad Singh’s wife Sampat Kanwar, Prakash Bundela’s mother Lakshmi Devi Bundela and James Thomas’s mother Marry Kutti Thomas.
