Intensive study of Jodhpur will be done through NASA’S sensor Aviris-NG. The sensor will be taking satellite images and will collect data of residential and industrial areas. This sensor will take-off with the help of aircraft made by NRSC Hyderabad of Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) which will arrive in Jodhpur by March 27.

Director General of Regional ISRO SS Rao said that it will be NASA’s first activity to study Jodhpur city and test its sensor design system. This is a pre-launching of NASA sensor in a way.

This sensor will capture the satellite images of the Roof Top of the old houses built in the residential area, industrial area, inhabited government residential colonies, slum area, in the city and will find out construction material like cemented, iron sheet, iron shadows.

After meeting its set objectives, it will be sent in space for detailed study. On the basis of the study, Jodhpur city can be planned at a broader level. When this sensor will fly over the rooftops of the city, its resolution will be near around 3 meters. After getting output in pre-launching, its capacity and design will be tested. After that NASA will send this sensor in space by adding it to its satellite.

A separate team of ISRO-NRSC officials has been set up on the instruction of PM Narendra Modi. This team will prepare a feedback report from the observations of the sensor. This NG measures up to 380 nm to 2510 nm of wavelength.

This will allow the government to know about shortcomings in housing colonies. Also, it will be easy to see the manipulation of paper in satellite images. ISRO experts will also be there in the aircraft.
