In a bid to curb cyber crime, Nagaur police is planning to run a campaign through the Public Engagement Camp. The initiative has come in the backdrop of increasing number of frauds in the districts where miscreants impersonating as a bank worker or income tax officer dupe people. To root out the problem, Nagaur’s newly appointed SP Harendra Mahawar has issued instructions to run special operations for cyber crime prevention.

With the expansion of information technology, the cyber crimes are fast spreading its tentacles. The fraud is mostly carried out either through bank accounts OTP or taking information of the accounts by impersonating as an income tax department employee. The Nagaur district police will now try to make people aware of online fraud by going to beet level. The SP has directed all the police officers to give information regarding cyber crimes to the rural people in the Police Public Meeting Camps, which will be organised at every police station level. SP Mahawar has appealed to the general public of the district that they should not give information about their accounts, ATM PIN, CVV number to anyone. He has said not to share OTP or ATM numbers coming on your mobile number via SMS, linked to the bank accounts. If in the name of verification anyone asks you for information, do not share your bank accounts.

Mahawar added that miscreants will try and fraud you, but you must not share any information related to your bank accounts with anyone and instead report the online fraud to the local police as soon as possible, along with bank customer care who will immediately get the ATM cards blocked from the bank.

The fraud cyber experts are targeting the general public due to their lack of knowledge. In this phase of digitisation, the whole system is becoming hi-tech and the cyber crimes will only rise.
