A shameful incident has come to light from Dholpur wherein a thirty-one-year-old widow and mother of three children - two daughters and one son - was sold off by her relatives, whom she looked for help after her husband’s death. However, this is not where her ordeal ends. The woman’s daughters aged twelve and eight were also sold off and raped. The woman has registered a case in this matter at Baseri police station of Dholpur.

A native of Baseri in Dholpur district, the thirty-one-year-old woman has registered a case, against three men, seeking justice for herself. “The woman was married to a local, however four years back, her husband passed away. After her husband’s death, the woman decided to move out from her in-laws’ house and started living with her uncle and aunt,” officials said.

However, this is where her horrors started. “The woman has alleged that her uncle and aunt fraudulently took her land and threatening her of dire consequences, she was sold off three years back for sixty thousand rupees to two men. The woman shifted her house with the two men, however, they overpowered her and raped her. The youth took her to several places where they continued to rape her. Furthermore, they even allowed their relatives to rape the woman,” officials said.

But her ordeal was far from over. “She has alleged that she was brought to Dholpur where her daughter was sold for three lakh rupees. The girl was then raped and after sometime, again sold off for four lakh rupees,” officials said.

Meanwhile, the Dholpur police has initiated an investigation into the matter. “She has named three men including one Sonu Gurjar in the matter. She has said that she was sold several times. We are trying to gather the facts in the matter and effective action will be taken,” said Arjun Singh, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sarmathura.
