Mismanagement marred the oath-taking ceremony of chief minister Ashok Gehlot and his deputy Sachin Pilot at Albert Hall on Monday. Newly elected MLAs and senior cops were found struggling in the mobs to enter the venue and few of them even faced unintentional manhandling.

Chairman of police housing and construction Kapil Garg, who is in the race to become the DGP, and ADG (Vigilance) Govind Gupta were the victims of poor management at the venue. Both were found struggling while entering the venue from the back gate of the hall. They even faced unintentional manhandling when the mob didn’t allow them to further their movement. Gupta reached the venue after jumping the wooden barricades. The police personnel deputed at the venue could not help them in the situation.

Similarly, independent MLA Babulal Nagar and Congress MLA BD Kalla were also victims of the poor management as they were pushed off in the mobs during which Kalla lost his specks too. Many MLAs were found showing their ID cards to get the entry in the queues also despite having the invitation cards in their hand. Meanwhile, anyone had access to reach any point at the venue. It could be called a major lapse in the security of Congress chief Rahul Gandhi and former Prime minister Manmohan Singh, who are protected by the SPG (Special Protection Group).

The mismanagement was caused mainly due to blocking of the back gate that was kept reserved for the entrance of VIP guests and their vehicles. It was kept blocked for half an hour and the vehicles including of cops and MLA queued up. It forced the cops and MLAs to walk and reach the venue. Hence, they got trapped in the mobs and were mishandled.

The administration had planned separate lobbies for bureaucrats and cops as VIP. As the invitations were sent mainly to Congress leaders, workers at the party level they entered in the lobby making cops and bureaucrats standing. The media persons also faced mismanagement. The department of information and personnel (DIPR) failed to issue passes to the media on time and they, as a consequence, could not reach the venue on time.

Notably, the entire administration and Jaipur commissionerate had been planning the event for two days and several rounds of meetings were held to conduct the event smoothly. Even Gehlot and Pilot instructed them to hold the event in a planned manner making none troubled. When D-day reached, all the planning was exposed. After the event, there were jams on all roads leading to the Albert Hall.
