Union minister for petroleum and natural gas, and skill development and entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan, who was in the city on Friday, appreciated Rajasthan for a healthy eco-system of skill development.

He also added that there is a huge demand of workers from the state, not only in India, but also worldwide. Hence, the focus should be laid on promoting skill training in the indigenous trades of Rajasthan.

“I have taken an overview of all the initiatives being taken by the Rajasthan Government in skill sector. Rajasthan has developed a good eco-system. Rajasthan is the country’s first state to develop two universities - one private and one government, for skill development,” Pradhan said.

“I believe the system can be developed further if everyone contributes to it. It is our duty to develop a network of employment by training the youth and skill-oriented workers of the state in the near future,” he added.

The minister also suggested for manpower mapping, recognition of prior learning, drivers training, and apprenticeship for enhancing the skill training programs.

He also visited Bhartiya Skill Development University (BSDU), a private skill university established by the Government of Rajasthan which imparts skill education through Swiss Dual System of Training.

“Really appreciate the venture of creating such an educational Skill university. Salute the vision of Dr Rajendra Joshi for creating such a world class skilling centre. Many more such institutes are needed to meet the skilling requirement of the nation,” Pradhan tweeted on Friday. While attending the 12th Biennial International Conference on “Energy through Synergy” organised by the Society of Petroleum Geophysicist, Pradhan further said that India is gearing up for claiming the title of a leading partner in Industrial Revolution 4.0. Role of Oil & Gas Sector will be critical in providing affordable energy to supplement the rapid Industrial Growth. “Benefits of innovations in this sector must also reach to the masses,” Pradhan said.

Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan asked geo-scientific community to reduce oil and gas import dependency by at least 10% and ensure energy accessibility as well as affordability for entire spectrum of people to fulfill the vision of prime minister Narendra Modi. Pradhan said the country ranks third in energy consumption in the world and with the efforts of scientists, exploration and production (E&P)industry is growing.  Pradhan said the sector is a priority of the government and the time is ripe for ‘energy to synergy’.
