State government has been mulling on a proposal to increase the private consultancy charges for medical college faculty.

The proposal suggesting to double the private consultancy charges has been sent by medical education department for consideration of state finance department.

“According to norms, the private consultancy charges need to be revised every four years, however, it has not been revised for almost a decade. The current proposal too is based on recommendations of committees submitted in 2014,” says Dr Dhananjai Agarwal, secretary of Rajasthan Medical College Teachers Association.

The proposal on being approved will benefit nearly 1,800 medical teachers posted in six government medical college of state.

State health education department, meanwhile denies of any major development in this regard. “The proposal to revise charges of doctors has been in consideration for quite some time and is still in process, a decision is yet to be taken in this regard,” said a senior officer at health department. However, as the government seeks to please the doctor fraternity following the recent strike by in-service doctors, a decision in this regard is likely to be made soon.
