Heavy rains in many parts of Rajasthan on Saturday

Monsoon once again has become active in Rajasthan as on Saturday, parts of the state received moderate to heavy showers. In fact, places such as Jaisalmer, Rajsamand and Udaipur recorded heavy rain to the tune of 72 mm, 60 mm and 61 mm respectively.

Monsoon once again has become active in Rajasthan as on Saturday, parts of the state received moderate to heavy showers. In fact, places such as Jaisalmer, Rajsamand and Udaipur recorded heavy rain to the tune of 72 mm, 60 mm and 61 mm respectively.

However, rest of the eastern and central parts witnessed light rain spells. Meanwhile, northwestern parts of the state remained very warm and dry, wherein the day temperatures also were high.

In Jaipur, despite the scattered cloud activities in the sky over the city, dry and humid continued to make people sweat on Saturday. However, in the evening, the weather took a turn and parts of the city including Ajmer Road, Tonk Road, C-scheme, Walled City, Malviya Nagar, JLN Marg, Vaishali Nagar, Vidhyadhar Nagar observed short spell of moderate to light rainfall. These showers provided much-awaited relief, though water logging in some low areas affected commuters as well.

As per the MeT office report, Kota recorded 12.1 mm of rain, followed by Ajmer 1.2 mm. Some areas in Jaisalmer, Dungarpur, Bundi, Udaipur, Jhalawar, Banswara, Sirohi, Chittorgarh and Pali also recorded rainfall in the range of 50 to 10 mm.

According to weathermen at Skymet Weather, at present, the depression which was over Madhya Pradesh region has moved west and northwestwards and weakened into a low-pressure. Now, the same system lies over parts of Northwest Madhya Pradesh and adjoining parts of East Rajasthan.

The U-turn

In Jaipur, despite the scattered cloud activities over the city, dry and humid continued to make people sweat on Saturday. However, in the evening, the weather took a turn and lashed various parts of the city.
