The quilts are long gone, the fans are on and we are still three days away from March. The scorch is already knocking on the door. The maximum temperatures all across the state are pegging at 3-4 degrees above normal.

Though, cloudy conditions on Saturday brought an amount of respite but the mercury recorded a surge of 5-6 degrees during the last 72 hours.

All regions in Rajasthan have witnessed a maximum temperature in the range of 30-36 degrees  Celsius.

In addition, the humidity levels are also extremely high, as the temperature during the night hours is well above normal. Weathermen attribute the rise in temperature to the cloud cover over northern Rajasthan.

“The main reason for warmer conditions is due to the fact that the minimum temperature  continues to be 6-10 degrees above normal level. This ‘higher’ minimum  temperature leads to a comparatively warmer morning. It also triggers the day temperature thereby,” the weathermen with IMD said.

SHORT RAIN SPELLS

As per the weathermen at skymetweather, an active Western Disturbance is prevailing over Afghanistan and adjoining North Pakistan and its induced cyclonic circulation is persisting over Northwest Rajasthan. Experts attribute the rise in temperature to the cloud cover over northern Rajasthan. So there is a relief expected, as under the wake of this system North Rajasthan may witness short spells of rain and thundershower activities. While, isolated places may also witness hailstorm.

Nasa Stats

Due to La Nina conditions, there was some cooling. Had it not been the case, it would have been a much warmer January.
Usually, the month of January is the coldest for the Northern Hemisphere especially for the mid latitude areas.
During this time, more weather systems are present around the globe in the form of winter storms, snow storms, Western Disturbances and a few others affecting areas and gaining strength as they travel across the seas.

Cropped Crop

Temperatures across most parts of the state are witnessing a rise and the unusual rise in temperatures seems harmful for the crops.
As on Saturday, the temperature continued to hover at 4-5 degrees above the normal.
Wheat and mustard are hammered by the above normal rising temperatures across all the major crop producing areas.
5-10% Wheat production may be hampered if this trend continues
