Ensuring basic amenity of roads in even least populated rural areas, the chief minister Vasundhara Raje has made a big announcement. Now, villages across the state where the population is 250 or more will all be connected with roads to Panchayat headquarters.

Raje made the announcement during a ‘CM Jan Samvad program’ held in a public school on Sunday. The poor infra in less populated areas drew her attention when some rural folks raised the issue during the program. She promptly asked the senior officials to shoot a letter to the Central government to connect left out small villages with roads to the Panchayat headquarters.

“A list of revenue villages where the population is 250 or more but left out from connectivity under ‘Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna’ since 2001 will be prepared so these could have roads. The list will be sent to Union ministry of rural development for roadworks,” said Raje directing PWD engineers to draft list of roads which need repairing and send a proposal for the same.

Local issues which were pending for a long time were addressed by Raje on the spot during the program. She instructed officials to earmark forest land for sheltering stray bulls to avoid damage of crops, to probe into alleged irregularity in saplings distribution to farmers and to video graph repairing of drinking water pipelines which were reported broken and unrepaired keeping the rural people thirsty.

Once again Raje expressed dissatisfaction over the functioning of administration at grass root level and she asked the officials to be concerned towards complaints of the commoners. “Officials need to understand grievances of the people and dispose them off with full seriousness. How will you feel facing such problems after the retirement from the service? So, you should show complete sincerity to their problem and issues,” Raje said.

Meanwhile, Raje has made a big announcement to provide adequate water supply to Fatehpur Shekhawati area. She has instructed officials of LSG (local self-governance) to draft a detailed project report of Rs125 crores to lay drinking water lines and sewerage lines in the area.
