Majority of the farmers whose land was acquired for fencing are still being deprived of compensation. The government acquired zero point land from farmers in the year 1992 for fencing in about 225 km in Barmer district on the India-Pakistan border on the border of Rajasthan.

A long time has passed after the strong fencing but the farmers are still shedding their sweat to get the compensation of their land, Kisnaram Chaudhary, who came to Jodhpur from Gadra road and several other farmers along with him, expressed their grief.

They all came to give a memorandum to the Divisional Commissioner but when he did not meet, then farmers had to return after submitting their letter to the PA. Farmers said that 11468 Bigha accountability lands of thousands of farmers of Barmer went between the ground fencing and Zero Point.

The farmers are not getting the right of their land nor any compensation from 25 years. Farmers have alleged that the farmers received compensation for the land for the 6 feet wide fencing in 2004, but the compensation of nearly 100 meters long 11464 bigha land which was between the fencing and Zero Point, was not given till date.

They have submitted letters to the Divisional Commissioners many times in the past, but they are still waiting for the justice. They say that in view of security, the Government of India had done the fencing in 150 yards (i.e. around 450 feet) away in the Indian border from Border Pillar in 1992-93. It was that time when the conditions were suitable for farming. They say that in Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab, permission is given for farming by opening the fencing gate for about 2 km away. The same pattern is also applied in Shri Ganganagar of Rajasthan. But why Bikaner, Jaisalmer, and Barmer are not getting the benefit of this Pattern? These farmers are demanding that they should also be allowed cultivation on their land by opening the gates or should be allotted place land in other places or pay compensation. They demanded to take this amount on the market price.

After this matter has been raised in Parliament, the administration has also claimed action as per the rules but many farmers who reached Jodhpur have not got this benefit.5 years ago, the High Court also gave a verdict in favor of the farmers but no concrete action was taken after that. Kisnaram Choudhary (farmer), said that we are with the country, but we should get compensation.

No compensation
