Rajasthan police officials cannot load and fire some of the arms given to them to control riots and violent demonstrations. This fact came to light when during the weapon test at the annual inspection by IG, Kota range on Thursday.

The DSP and SHO rank police officers, posted in four circle range and 18 police stations of Bundi district, could not even operate or fire pump action gun nor the tear gas shell hit the target. They even failed in chili spray tests. Only Bundi district SP Yogesh Yadav could salvage some pride by performing well.

When IG Bansal asked CI Talera police station Purshotam Maheriya to fire pump action gun, he even could not load it. This prompted the IG to say: “If such a long time is taken in loading the gun, the situation get out control”.

Hindoli range DSP Nanagram Meena failed to fire tear gas shell at the intended target. DSP Lakheri range Narpat Singh could not throw dye marker at the target. The police officials, without ascertaining the wind direction, fired chilli spray which not only missed the target but it hit them back because the wind was blowing in the opposite direction.

IG reprimanded some of the police officials who could not perform parade. While Bundi SP Yogesh Yadav refuted to the charge of poor performance.
