Lawyers in Kota, under the aegis of Abhibhashak Parishad, on Wednesday demonstrated against the thrashing incident with a lawyer of the court and submitted a memorandum to the Superintendent of Police (SP) demanding stern action in the matter and setting up a police check post in court premises. Meanwhile, the accused father and son duo, who thrashed the lawyer on Tuesday afternoon, were today sent to judicial custody.

A senior lawyer in Kota court Puranmal Sharma, was on Tuesday afternoon, thrashed and beaten up by two clients identified as Mahesh Ojha and Himanshu Ojha, residents of Kota city, a father-son duo after lawyer Sharma, came out of ADJ court number – 4 in court premises, told Naveen Sharma, president of Kota Abhibhashak Parishad. Lawyer Puranmal Sharma was dealing a property case and yesterday moved an application for stay on the sale of the property in the matter and that irked the accused father and son and they severely thrashed and beat the lawyer who sustained hand fracture and injuries on head and body, the lawyers’ body president said.

The lawyers’ body boycotted the judicial works in court today in protest to the incident and demonstrated against the incident and marched to the SP office and submitted a memorandum demanding stern action in the matter and take steps for the safety and security of lawyers in court, Naveen Sharma said. The lawyers in memorandum also demanded to set up a police check post in court premises and to install CCTV cameras, he said.

The two accused, Mahesh Ojha and Himanshu Ojha were booked under sections 143, 323, 341 and 504 of IPC, told Deshraj, Sub-inspector at Nayapura police station. The two were yesterday, following the incident, were arrested for breaching public peace and were today produced before the court that sent them to judicial custody, the SI said.

THE ACCUSED FATHER-SON DUO

  • The two accused, Mahesh Ojha and Himanshu Ojha were booked under sections 143, 323, 341 and 504 of IPC, told Deshraj, Sub-inspector at Nayapura police station.
     
  • The two were yesterday, following the incident, were arrested for breaching public peaced and were produced before the court that sent them to judicial custody.
     
  • The investigation into the matter would further proceed after the medical report is received on Thursday, he added.
