Months after notorious history sheeter from Sri Ganganagar, Jordan, was shot dead in the wee hours while working out in a gym, the Rajasthan Police arrested the main accused in the matter along with four others.
The arrest was made after a joint operation, to nab the accused, was initiated by Sri Ganganagar, Hanumangarh and Churu police. Notably, the five accused were even planning to commit a major dacoity but were arrested before they could carry out their plan. According to the police, the arrested accused have been identified as Jagat Singh alias Kalu, Jasvindra, Balram, Vikram and Krishna Kumar.
“On the directions issued by Inspector General of Bikaner range Dinesh MN, several teams were formed of Churu, Hanumangarh and Sri Ganganagar police that were tasked with search of accused and the teams were sent to various locations during the search,” officials said.
While searching for the accused, one of the teams learnt that Jagat Singh was planning to commit a dacoity in Sriganganagar.
“It was further learnt that the man had even armed himself and other members of the team. Efforts were then made to locate the accused and it came to light that they were in hiding in Sahwa village in Churu district in the house of one Gaurishankar Saini. The police team raided the spot and arrested the five members before they could commit the dacoity,” officials said.
The police even recovered weapons from the gang. “One 9mm pistol with magazine and five live rounds, two 30mm pistols with eleven live rounds, one country-made pistol with three live rounds, one cutter have been recovered from their possession. A car, that they had looted from Sardarshahar area of Churu, a few days back has also been recovered. Jagat Singh is also accused of looting a Creta car in Hanumangarh and he is wanted in various other cases in Hanumangarh and Churu districts,” officials said.
