Jodhpur polo season begins from December 1

Month-long tourney will see major players competing

The month-long Jodhpur polo season 2017 will begin at Maharaja Gaj Singh Sports Foundation Polo Ground, Air Force Road, Pabupura, from 1 December to 31 December under the auspices of Jodhpur Polo and Equestrian Institute. Gaj Singh will be the chief guest. Colonel Ummed Singh, honorary secretary, Jodhpur Polo and Equestrian Institute, said that  five tournaments and seven exhibition matches will be played. In this, Jodhpur Polo Cup will be played on Friday, December 1, Umaid Bhawan Palace Cup on December 6, H.H. Maharaja of Jodhpur Cup on December 15, Rajputana and Central India Cup on 20 December and Maharaja of Jodhpur Golden Jubilee Cup round will be held on 26th December.

Colonel Rathore said that seven exhibition matches will also be played. Major Thakur Sardar Singh Jasol Memorial Cup on 11th December, Jodhpur and Mundota Fort Palace on Dec. 13, British Army and Jodhpur Risala from December 14, British Excellence and Mayo College Ajmer on December 14, Army Commanders Cup on17 December, Bhanwar Baijilal Vara Raje Polo Cup on 19 December, Abu Shiyar Cup and Hermes Cup on December 21 and Jodhpur International Ladies Polo Cup 2017 will be played on December 30. There will be no matches on 12th December. All matches will be held at 3pm and on 13, 14 and 19 December, the matches will be held at 2pm.

Indian players including Simran Singh Shergill, Syed Shamsher Ali, Dhruvpal Godara, Sameer Suhag, Abhimanyu Pathak, Angad Kalan, Vishal Singh, Gaurav Sahgal, Uday Kalan, Salim Azmi, Lokendra Singh Rathod, Shiddhant Sharma will be seen in action. Among foreign players Gaston Devrient, Sam Browne, Torrey Ripinsky, Malcolm Borwick, Bash Kazi, Capt. Mossy Hamilton, Lieutenant Jamie Drummond Moray will the main attraction.
