Jaipur Development Commissioner (JDC) Vaibhav Galeria has forwarded a list to Urban Development Housing (UDH) minister of the engineers who have been taking salary without work . The minister has to take a call on who will stay and who will go back to their original departments.
These engineers had come to the JDA on deputation. For quite some time JDA’s bid to send engineers back to their respective departments proved futile. Despite not much work for these engineers, the JDA was bearing their salary expenditure. Now, the ball is in UDH minister’s court.
It is an open secret that these engineers are well connected to the ‘power’, which protects them in case of any wrong doing. The engineers work at their will and because of their political connections no one is able to touch them.
For reasons known to all, the engineers prefer to stay in the JDA. Whenever they are sent back, they manage to come back using their political connections. Arvind Arya, Mukesh Rana and Rajendra Ahuja are a couple of names of such engineers.
At present the JDA has been facing resource crunch yet more than two dozen senior engineers have been receiving salary only to warm the chairs. Despite no work, they don’t want to leave the JDA and the latter too is unable to move them out.
The JDC by sending the list to the UDH minister has put onus on him to take a call. The minister has been briefed about engineers who have no work. Since, the state government has lifted ban yesterday, there is hope that some of them can be shunted out.
Apart from deputation another big issue is of internal transfer. Around a dozen engineers have been working on the same wing for two to three years but the JDA has not been able to shift them even though there have been serious complaints and allegations against them.
Now, that the JDC has initiated the move, it remains to be seen if the UDH minister can show courage to take a decision in this matter in the elections year.
