Jaipur to play host to International smart city expo

The three-day expo to commence from September 26 is being organised by Jaipur Development Authority in partnership with couple of companies including promoters of World Smart City Expo.

Included in the list of Smart Cities by government of India, Jaipur will play host to an International Smart City Expo. It is an attempt to bargain an identity for the city on global smart city map. “It will position Jaipur on International map with an even mix of international and national participants,” said additional chief secretary urban development, Pawan Kumar Goyal at a media briefing on Thursday. 

The three-day expo to commence from September 26 is being organised by Jaipur Development Authority in partnership with couple of companies including promoters of World Smart City Expo. Jaipur during the last World Expo had managed to find place in top six smart cities. City development authorities are seeking yet another opportunity to get their achievements highlighted ahead of the global community during the expo in Jaipur. The event is scheduled to be inaugurated in presence of vice-president of India Venkaiah Naidu, chief minister of Rajasthan Vasundhara Raje, urban development minister Shrichand Kriplani and governor of South Australia along with experts from nation and abroad 

The Rajasthan urban development department has extended its support to the event. Additional chief secretary, urban development Pawan Kumar Goyal and Jaipur development commissioner Vaibhav Galariya briefed the press over the expo on Thursday morning. 

“We plan to take the delegates on a visit to the projects being developed in the city, like the Dravyawati riverfront and others,” said the development commissioner. 

The officials though accepted that the international delegates are likely to come across barricading at several locations while visiting the Walled City area due to ongoing metro project work.  

From Sept 26

The event is scheduled to be inaugurated in presence of vice-president of India Venkaiah Naidu, CM Vasundhara Raje, urban development minister Shrichand Kriplani and governor of South Australia The three-day expo to commence from September 26.
