Jaipur: Three killed, two hurt as jeep falls into dry river from bridge

The accident occurred when the jeep was passing over a bridge on Aahu River in Bhawani Mandi road under Sunail police station of Jhalawar district.

Three persons were killed on the spot and two others sustained critical injuries after the jeep in which they were travelling fell into a dry river. 

The accident occurred when the jeep was passing over a bridge on Aahu River in Bhawani Mandi road under Sunail police station of Jhalawar district. 

According to the police, the accident occured late on Thursday night. The deceased and the injured are reported to be employees of a local liquor company and were returning to their homes when around 11.30 pm on Thursday the mishap occurred.

The deceased were identified as Gopal Singh, 22, resident of Barode area of Agar district in Madhya Pradesh (MP), Dashrtath Singh, 20, and Dolat Singh, 28, both residents of Jhalawar district, said Mahesh Singh SHO at Sunail police station. Two others identified as Shyam Singh, and Gopal Singh both 28 years old belonging to Gangdhar area in Jhalawar district sustained critical injuries in the mishap and are undergoing treatment in government hospital in Jhalawar, he added.

On Friday the bodies were handed over to the family members after postmortem at community health centre in Sunail town, the SHO said.

Tragic End

The deceased and the injured are reported to be employees of a local liquor company and were returning to their homes when around 11.30 pm on Thursday the mishap occurred. Jeep on which the five were travelling fell into Aahu River, most part of which is dry due to summer, the police said.
