The activities of SMS school will now be under the lens of Rajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (RSCPCR). The commission has formed a committee which will monitor the activities going on in the school.

In an order issued by the commission, it has been stated that a monitoring committee, due to the irregularities in the school, has been formed. The decision was taken after a meeting commission had on Monday. The members of the commission SP Singh, Seema Joshi and Jayshree Garg will be the members of this panel.

The committee will keep a watch on the activities for 3 months and will also take the support of the department of education and child welfare committee.

Interestingly, the school has already closed for summer vacations. In Jaipur, normally the schools are closed for about one and a half month to two months and only office staff comes to the schools. In this way, it means that for a major part of the tenure of the committee, school students will not be coming to school.

About 6 days back, a team comprising chairperson Manan Chaturvedi, member secretary V Sarwana Kumar and others had visited the school. It was being speculated that day itself that a committee will be formed soon based on the findings of the members who had been to the school.

The commission had stepped into the controversy going on in school after several students approached the commission complaining about various issues of the school, including complaints regarding corporal punishment.

Another issue...

Another issue which the panel felt was related to making of the school management committee which is to be formed under the provisions of RTE. The members were of the view that provisions were being flouted as the committee was not formed properly.
