District administration will start holding camps to identify eligible beneficiaries to get benefits of physical aids and assisted-living devices under ‘Naveen Vayoshri Scheme’ from Monday. Having an Aadhar card or identity cards along with income certificates is the condition set to get the devices.

Jaipur collector Siddharth Mahajan on Sunday said that administration has charted out camps which will be held from Monday. The camps will be held in Govindgarh, Amber panchayat Samiti on July 16, Shahpura and Jhotwara on July 17, Pavta and Sanganer on July 18 and Kotputli and Chaksu on July 19. Similarly, camps will be held in other areas of the district regularly, said Mahajan.

The collector said that Aadhar card or any identity card along with PPO of national old age pension scheme or state old age pension scheme and BPL ration cards or income certificate will be mandatory to get benefits under the scheme. People over 60 years only are eligible for the scheme, said the statement released on the behalf of the collector.

The aids and devices for senior citizens belonging to BPL category will be given under the scheme at free of cost. Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India, a PSU under the Central government, will take care of one-year free maintenance of the aids and devices including walking sticks, elbow crutches, walkers, tripods, hearing aids, artificial dentures, and spectacles.

Currently, the scheme has its presence in Jhalawar and Bikaner and now Raje government eyes to make it Pan Rajasthan. The scheme could be seen as another attempt by the state government to woo senior citizens after its ‘Varishtha Nagrik Teerth Yatra Scheme’ with which it sponsors senior citizens pilgrimage via air or train to religious places across the country.

This is a Central Sector Scheme, fully funded by the Central government. The expenditure for implementation of the scheme will be met from the ‘Senior Citizens’ Welfare Fund’.

CONDITIONS SET

The collector said that Aadhar card or any identity card along with PPO of national old age pension scheme or state old age pension scheme and BPL ration cards or income certificate will be mandatory to get benefits under the scheme. People above 60-years are eligible for it.
