The city police resorted to the mild use of force on agitating students outside Rajasthan University premises on Tuesday afternoon after the students created a ruckus and affected law and order. The students were agitating against alleged irregularities and admission fraud in the university hostels. The police arrested a dozen students for breaking peace in the area while additional forces were deployed to avoid a further clash with the students and to maintain law and order.

On Tuesday, ABVP volunteers conducted a gherao and sit in of the Vice Chancellor’s office against the alleged irregularities and admission fraud. The agitation had been announced before. While conducting their agitation, the students formed a rally and reached the Rajasthan University gates. The students did not stop at the gates but came out on the JLN Marg and tried to stop the traffic passing from the spot. Gandhi Nagar police reached the spot and tried to pacify the students asking them not to affect the traffic. However, the students did not listen and became agitated and clashed with the cops. The police resorted to the mild use of force and dispersed the students after which a dozen students were arrested in the matter.
