Approval for a sewage system has come as a sigh of relief for residents of the Prithviraj Nagar area. The Jaipur Development Authority has approved Rs 180 crores for development of sewage system in the area on Friday, nearly Rs 50 crore of works are expected to be sanctioned in the first phase.

The decision has followed the assurances made earlier this month by Jaipur development commissioner, Vaibhav Galriya to end a 50-day long agitation of the local residents. The agitation leaders, while expressing gratitude to the authorities, now look forward to compliance with their other demands of water and road facilities.

“The development commissioner had assured us to commence the sewage works before July 25 and as the authority approves of the works, we are optimistic towards the betterment of the area,” said one of the agitation committee leader Ghanshyam Singh.

The agitation committee representatives though resolve to continue the struggle for the provision of Bisalpur water supply to the region and other development works. There are over 800 colonies in the Prithviraj Nagar area that have come up in the area in absence of basic facilities and more than one lakh residents of these colonies thus have to struggle for these.
