After the bike-sharing project of Jaipur Smart City Limited (JSCL), the Jaipur Metro Rail Corporation (JMRC) will start Smart Bicycle Service. Like the cab service, Smart Bicycle Service will operate through mobile apps and GPS.

This service will be completely cashless and the lock of the bicycle will open and close by using a bar-code. No bicycle stand will be made for smart bicycles.

JMRC has brought the concept of the Smart Bicycle Service to motivate the citizens to use non-motorised transport. According to JMRC sources, a private company has proposed for the Smart Bicycle Service Project. The company’s representatives will present the project details on Wednesday and will display the bicycles. According to sources, the Smart Bicycle Service will be different from JSCL’s bike-sharing project. Bicycle stands will not be built anywhere in the city for Smart Bicycle Service. Instead, bicycle pickups and drop points will be made.

The user will have to upload the Smart Bicycle Service mobile app in his smart phone and put money in its wallet. When the user comes out of the metro of the station, he/she will open the mobile app and request  the bicycle. After this, the number of bicycle and bar code will appear on his mobile. If the user scans the bar code of the bicycle outside the station on the mobile app then the lock of the bicycle will open. After this the user will be able to take the bicycle. While the riding the bicycle, he will have to keep the mobile app open, which will indicate the near-by-drop points. The user will be able to leave his bike at any nearby drop points. According to sources, initially the company will offer 60 rides for Rs 100. Under this offer, the user will have to put Rs 100 in the company’s mobile app wallet.
