Problems relating to air condition, bedrolls, water, food or safety of the coach and such other issues will dealt with by train captain.
Train captains have been nominated on the various trains running in the Jaipur division by NWR. The train captain will be responsible for the facilities which are being provided during to passengers. He will also be responsible for resolving the complaints and other problems faced by passengers. Problems relating to air condition, bedrolls, water, food or safety of the coach and such other issues will dealt with by train captain. The initiative, which was mooted by railway board, has been implemented in the Bikaner division along with Jaipur division. It has been decided that the senior most TTE will be given this responsibility.
As such at Sanganer station, the senior most TTE was seen wearing the “badge” of train captain and helping the passengers. The facility is being given in long distance trains and express trains like Shatabdi Rajdhani or Duronto and the AC trains. Trains running between Jaipur-Kota, Jaipur-Delhi, Jaipur-Ahmedabad etc the train captains have started working. NWR chief PRO Tarun Jain said that nominating the train captains in the Bikaner division has already started.
A week ago, railway board had shot off a letter to general managers of the various zones to have a large team of railway personnel and outsourced staff on board.
Onboard housekeeping staff
Currently, there are multiple people for several complaints. There is OBHS (Onboard housekeeping staff) for cleaning coach whom passengers approach in case of complaints. In many trains, there is linen attendant for delivery of towels etc who deals with issues related to it. There is sanitary staff for toilets and passengers approach them for complaints.
Out sourced staff
These days trains have a large team of outsourced staff in addition to railway personnel on board for offering various services. To provide coordination to the team and solving the grievances of passengers, the concept of train captain is introduced.
