Jaipur: Man who raped Dailt woman let off with Rs 51,000 fine

A Dalit woman was allegedly raped by a man of her own village near Chanderia police station area in Chittorgarh district on Tuesday. The accused, Sitaram Jat, took the mentally ill woman on his motorcycle far away and raped her.  

When they were returning between 4 pm and 5 pm they were spotted by the villager After seeing a man with a mentally ill woman, Jat was stopped by the villagers and the crowd started gathering at the place.

When inquired, the man accepted the relationship with the woman and the panchayat imposed a fine of Rs 51,000 on Jat. After getting the information, the police also registered the case and have started investigating the matter.

But, somehow, the video of the panchayat came on the social media. Swayam Sevi Sansthan along with the Gramin Mahila Vikas Sansthan examined the video. At first, the local public representatives denied the occurrence of such a case, but when the family members of the victim were asked about the matter, they told everything about the panchayat. They informed that the panchs of four nearby villages assembled and took the decision to stop the proceedings.
