A beaming chief minister Vasundhara Raje launched a Rs400-crore hospital project in Kota on Friday, a day after her meeting with party’s national president in Delhi resulted in postponement of a decision on appointment of state president till after the Karnataka elections.

She asked her audience “to dream big” and then told them to go after it in what seemed to be a reflection of the incredible development that had transpired over the last few days.

After the national leadership’s call to postpone the appointment of Ashok Parnami’s successor, talks of a possible change in the centre’s preference for union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat have started doing the rounds.

Sources said if the results of the Karnataka polls are encouraging, the BJP leadership might go with its current choice. But, if the party doesn’t fare well, then it would be shy of rocking the boat in Rajasthan and look for a consensus candidate, which Raje has been pushing for.

According to sources, Raje has suggested some names for the party’s national leadership to consider as Parnami’s replacement. Social justice minister Arun Chaturvedi seems to be a Brahmin card that could end the dispute between the state unit and the Centre. Chaturvedi has helmed the role of state president previously. Narayan Pancharia, a Rajya Sabha MP, is believed to be on the list. The RSS wouldn’t object to either name as given their background with the organisation.

Sources said that Raje’s personal choice is that of UDH minister Shrichand Kriplani. Kripalani is also a mass leader from the RSS stable and is considered to be loyal aide to Raje.

Anothe wild-card entry is the name of Rajya Sabha MP and National General Secretary Bhupendra Yadav Bhupendra Yadav as he represents the OBC community. Yadav is close to Shah and a Sangh posterboy. Former state general secretary (organization) Prakash Chand, an RSS pracharak, was also a part of the discussions, sources said.
