Jaipur: ‘Harassed’ by ASI, youth kills self

ASI named Bhanwar Singh posted at Anta police station of harassing him by fabricating a false case against him under various sections of IPC.

A 25-year-old boy consumed poisonous substance and committed suicide after alleged harassment by a cop late on Friday night. In the suicide note recovered from his possession, the deceased youth alleged harassment by an ASI posted in Anta police station of Baran district.

“The youth, identified as Virendra Nagar alias Vikki, a resident of Koteri area in Anta town of Baran district late last evening consumed poison in a park near his relative’s home where he had been staying for sometime,”said Madan Lal Khateek, CI, Mahavirnagar police station. The youth was rushed to a private hospital where he succumbed during treatment. In the suicide note handed over to the police by the relative who reportedly recovered it from his possession, the youth alleged an ASI named Bhanwar Singh posted at Anta police station of harassing him by fabricating a false case against him under various sections of IPC.

The 25-year-old wrote that a few people of his village Mukesh, Dinesh, Dwarkilal and others gave false statements to the police and a case was lodged against him for thrashing his neighbour Dinesh and his wife Kajal.  The deceased in the suicide note demanded strict action against those who forced him to commit suicide. The deceased also apologised to his mother for not being able to support her and to his sister Kavita for not being able to attend her marriage.

The ASI at Anta police station, Bhanwar Singh said, a case was lodged against  Vikki and four others on the report by Dinesh Nagar on March 23. The evidences against the accused including Virendra were proved and two of the accused Bablu and Pritibai were arrested and sent to judicial custody, ASI Singh said, adding that Virendra was absconding.

The deceased had cleared REET exam and was about to get a job of a teacher.

Allegation refuted

The ASI refuted allegation of harassment against him saying he carried out routine investigation and after the evidences proved against the accused, he initiated relevant action against them.
