The Jaipur Municipal Corporation (JMC) will run a special awareness drive for ten days to get number  one position in 2019 in the Swachh Survekshan (clean survey)  2019, which will begin on January 4 this year.

The JMC has started preparations for the clean survey-2019 by putting banner-posters and conducting various social activities across the city to make people aware about Swachh Survekshan.

Acting mayor Manoj Bharadwaj addressed media persons on Tuesday to give information about what kind of programmes will be held before the survey.

“The Pink City has been already declared  “Open Defecation Free” (ODF) city. We have to maintain this level. Also, the city has improved a lot and this has helped Jaipur get ODF Plus-Plus certification”, said Bhardwaj.

“Last year, JMC took the leap of 176 places and got 39th rank across the country. This time we are working with the resolution to make Jaipur number one in cleanliness. I hope this time, the city will be number one in cleanliness with the help of every section of the society,” said Bhardwaj.

He informed that the Swachh Survekshan was  of 4,000 points in the year 2018, but this time the survey will be for 5,000 points. It also has a number of certification points in addition to the Citizen Feedback, Service Level Progress and Direct Observation.

It is worth noting here that the Swachh Survekshan-2019 has set 250 points for ODF. The separate category has been decided for this. The urban local body which will declare its city as self-ODF for the first time in the survey will get 25 marks. The city which is already ODF certified and if it fails in the survey then it will get 100 points. While if the certified city does not fail, then 150 marks will be given. Apart from this, if any city has ODF plus certificate then it will get 200 points and 250 points will be given to ODF Plus plus city.

The distinctive features of the survey are geared towards encouraging large-scale citizen participation, ensuring sustainability of initiatives.
