It's poll time now. Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has opened its coffers for development works on recommendations from local legislators. So far, JDA has spent an estimated Rs 3,000 crore on the recommendations of the MLAs, which is a record. And JDA has been unbiased when spending money on development is concerned. The case in the point is money spent on the development works in the assembly segment of senior BJP MLA Ghanshyam Tiwari, who has been opposing his own government. He ranks second in the list after Bagru MLA Kailash Verma.

JDA is the largest agency for development in the state capital. Therefore, MLAs try to get maximum number of development works for the respective areas. And in this government’s tenure, they have been quite successful. JDA has taken up a lot of development works on their proposals.

Apart from assembly segments within the city, JDA has executed lot of development works in adjoining areas including RoB, RUB and road construction.

Not surprisingly, the MLAs are quite happy with the JDA. Though, the agency has been facing resource crunch at present.  Otherwise its financial position has been quite strong, which has allowed it to take up development projects at large scale. The process is continuing.

Priority is being given to public representatives’ demands. JDC Vaibhav Galriya is trying to complete projects on time including those which couldn’t be completed for some reasons.

JDA spent Rs 644 crore on development projects in Bagru, which is the highest in the city. The least development work happened in Dudu assembly where Rs 10.44 crore was spent. A major reason for that was only a small part of this constituency falls under JDA region.

The figures suggest that the development by the JDA under this government have been unprecedented.
