The ambitious Dravyawati riverfront project rushing to meet its completion deadline this August is facing the threat of delay on part of the smart corridor. The estimated cost of the ‘corridor’ is near around Rs 40 crore. The project has come as a variation to the original agreement between Jaipur Development Authority and the contractor firm. The corridor works, continue to see advancement in wait for the negotiation process.

“Details of the components of the proposed smart corridor have been sent to Government e-Marketplace (GeM), an estimated cost of these is expected to arrive this week and accordingly negotiations will be made with the contractor firm,”  said Jaipur development commissioner, Vaibhav Galariya.

Extending the ‘smart corridor’ to present contractor firm will help in better synchronization and faster implementation, the process may get stretched for bidding if negotiations fail. Even if the negotiations are successful, they will have to seek approval from the empowered committee under chief secretary. The smart corridor proposed along a 30-kilometer length of the riverfront from Mazzar Dam to Ramchandra Dam is proposed to have Wi-Fi services, smart waste management system, digital kiosks, digital sign boards and E-bike sharing system. A draft of the same was approved by JDA executive committee, in January this year. Proposed as a component of the ‘smart city’ works, the corridor even got a mention in the recent budget speech.

Jaipur Development Authority has given a contract to a consortium of Tata Projects and Shanghai Urban Construction Group at a project cost of Rs. 1,676 crore to complete the Dravyavati River Project by August this year. Addition of the smart corridor though proposes to add ‘smart components’ to the uplifted face of Dravyawati.

Review Meeting

A decision regarding the corridor and other riverfront projects running behind time is expected to be discussed at a review meeting scheduled at JDA on Wednesday.
