A head constable of the Jaipur police passed away while taking part in a run organised for the participants of the promotee examination on Friday morning. Though it was a 2 km run and the head constable completed the same, however, he could not bear the fatigue of the run and fell.
He was rushed to a hospital where he was decalred dead. Notably, the head constable was posted in the crime branch of the Jaipur Commissionerate and was hoping for a promotion only to become an ASI. Notably, this is the fifth incident in past five years when a cop has died in such a situation.
On Friday morning, the physical examination was held of those head constables who were applicable for promotion to the post of assistant sub inspector after clearing the written examination. The run was organised at the Jal Mahal on Amer road.
“Several head constables took part in the run and one of them was HC Sushil Pandit. He had cleared the written examination that was held on last Sunday and thus had to appear for the physical examination for which he had to complete the 2 km run in a stipulated time,” officials said.
Sushil successfully completed the run, however, soon after he quietly moved to a corner and collapsed. When several attempts to revive him did not work, he was immediately rushed to SMS Hospital,” police said.
At the hospital, however, the man was declared dead. The news about the head constable’s death spread like a wildfire within the police department and senior officials including Jaipur police commissioner Sanjay Agarwal and DCP headquarter Gaurav Shrivastav reached the hospital and condoled the family members. “Postmortem of the deceased was conducted and the exact reason for the man’s death can be known once the report is received,” police said.
Promotion Hopes
