Jaipur: Compensation for cops injured during bandh

DGP O P Galhotra on Tuesday announced that policemen injured during Bharat bandh will get cash compensation of Rs 30,000 for severe injuries, Rs 15,000 for normal injuries while Rs 5,000 for any kind of minor injuries.

It may be mentioned here that on Monday the bandh called by Dalit outfits indulged widespread violence and vandalism in which many members of the police force were injured.

Galhotra also said on Tuesday that with the help of CCTV footage the police have started the drive to identify miscreants, who damaged private and public properties.  The police are also taking help from newspaper photographs and videos.

He said after proper study the police will soon started arresting such people.

Meanwhile, 172 cases have been filed across the state, seven of which are registered in Jaipur. Moreover, as reported on Tuesday by DNA, 23 companies of paramilitary forces have been deployed in sensitive areas and districts where prohibitory orders have been imposed. The forces have been ordered to stage flag march in the respective areas also.

Senior officials of ranks of additional director general have been sent to sensitive areas to monitor situation and restore law and order.

“There is complete peace in Rajasthan except a Hindaun city where curfew had to be imposed after arson and violence,” said Galhotra.

Sub-Inspector dies on way to Ahmedabad

SI Mahendra Chaudhary of Udai mandir police station died while he was being taken to Ahmedabad for treatment. He fell ill during the stone pelting by bandh supporters on Monday. He was referred to Ahmedabad for further treatment and a green corridor was created by traffic police for uninterrupted exit of ambulance. However, he suffered heart attack on way near Mehsana. He was taken to a private hospital where he was declared dead. Chaudhary was a resident of Pali district. His last rites will be performed in his native village.
