The callousness of development authorities is posing danger to the safety of public commuting on roads of the city on several occasions. The threat to commuters is not just limited to potholes and road cuts, the ill-kept poles and trees also shadow security of the public. DNA sights these on two busy roads of B2 Bypass and Bhawani Singh Marg.

Haphazard mounting of road lights along B2 Bypass has left danger hanging on those commuting through the busy road. The steel poles at the bridge at Dravyavati dangle with winds as they have not been duly bolted on the foundation. Several of these are light poles on either side of the road which are left hinged to just two bolts. An obvious reason for the negligence remains the poles being located on the shoulder of electrical duct under the pavement.

The Bhawani Singh Marg too has dangers standing in center of it. There are several dead trees at its median. These trees apparently have been killed intentionally by scrapping their barks. The process is called girdling and frequently used to kill trees without the use of chemicals. Surprisingly, even as the road witnesses frequent VIP movement, neither the girdling nor the threat from dead trunks has got the attention of the authorities.
