Jaipur: Another water body to develop at Dravyavati

It will not only store water inflow, but will also help in conservation of rain water

Conflux point of Dravyavati and Dundh river is proposed to be developed on lines of the riverfront project. The water body will also have lawns spread over 10,200 square metres. The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) has planned to develop the water body at a cost of nearly Rs 36 crore. 

The proposed water body will not only store water inflow from the Dravyavati but will also help in conservation of rain water. To be developed at tail end of Dravyavati river and is expected to be completed in nearly eight month period following which the developer shall continue provide defect liability of up to five years. 

Development of the water body will include construction of embankments and water drains to ensure proper collection and conservation of rain water. According to the officials, the contractor will be responsible for restoration and cleaning of rain water spouts and repair of any type of damage at least once every year, preferably before the monsoon. The cleaning and repair of inner drains will have to be performed as and when required. 

The adjoining lawn is proposed to have a thick grass cover, variety of plants and will also be maintained by the contractor. Construction of the water body comes as a further extension of the under development 47 kilometre long Dravyavti riverfront project and will reflect a mix of utility and beautification.  

Development of this conflux point though has not been part of the riverfront project and has been tender separately by the development authority. 

Meanwhile, the development authority continues to get the riverfront components completed. Among these remaining is Botanical theme garden which is expected to be dedicated to public in this month. The Botanical garden is one of the three theme parks proposed under the riverfront project, two of the theme gardens have been open to public.
