Around 15 persons were injured when the police had to use force to stop members of Hindu organisations from offering prayers at a disputed religious site in Bundi on Monday.

Police have also detained about 10 to 12 persons, including two Sadhus, who were leading the activists.

Hindu Mahasabha and other Hindu organisations had earlier given a call to perform puja at Maandhata Balaji Cenotaph on Tiger Hill on January 1, following which the district administration had imposed Section 144 on Friday night and the divisional commissioner ordered the suspension of the internet services from 6am on December 31 to 6am January 2 which was today further extended to 6am on January 3.

Tension in the city was palpable as markets wore a deserted look. As the activists moved towards Maandhata Cenotaph, the police tried to dissuade them but in vain as they moved towards  Meera Gate circle where the police had to resort to lathi-large to stop them marching towards the Tiger Hill road.

Vishal Bansal, Kota range IG, said activists of Hindu organisations had given a call to offer prayers on Tiger Hill, adjacent Meera Sahab Dargah, which was against the decision of the Peace Keeping Committee. ‘Suo motto decision would not be allowed in any condition, the IG said.
