The election campaign of Jagat Singh, BSP candidate from Ramgarh seat in Alwar has all elements with potential to cause controversy. He calls upon his supporters to grab a bundle of beedi and bottle of liquor and ensure support - either by love or by force.

Jagat speaks about cow vigilantism and blames leaders of the Mev community for lynching. Jagat is the son of former foreign minister Natwar Singh and had won as MLA on BJP ticket from Kaman in Bharatpur in 2013. Elections to the Ramgarh seat were postponed after BSP candidate Laxman Singh died of cardiac arrest. Jagat Singh has been given a ticket.

A video of Jagat shot in Ramgarh on Monday has become viral in social media where he can be heard playing to the gallery on issues like cow, Rakbar Khan’s lynching, liquor, beedi and Mev community leaders. He also takes on BJP and Congress.

Jagat blames leaders of the Mev (Muslim) community for Rakbar Khan lynching, “Mev samaj is not our enemy. Their leaders take them on the wrong path and do not explain thing to them at the right time. Why indulge in acts that hurt Hindus. Rakbar Khan matter took place because their leaders had no wish to explain to them to stay away from anti social elements. Live in a disciplined manner so that some other community is not hurt.”

Explaining the caste dynamics to voters on Monday Jagat said, “Thre are 60000 SC votes which will be consolidated in our favour. You have to ensure all Jat votes to make this a Jat seat,” said Jagat who himself forms to the Jat community.

“Time to sit at home is over. Whoever is upset with us needs to be convinced to support us. Either by love or by kicks. Pick up a bundle of beedis and a bottle, sit in your vehicles, move out, campaign and ensure a victory,” he tells the cheering crowd.

Incidentally Ramgarh is the seat that was represented by Gyandev Ahuja (of JNU condom count fame) he was denied ticket by BJP and it was given to Sukhwant Singh.

Jagat takes on BJP on the issue of cow vigilantism, “Either administration will do this (stop smuggling) or we will. Cow is our mother too, its not the mother for BJP alone. They have not made Ram temple, have not attacked Pakistan all they have done is enforced demonetization and GST and brought about mehangai and unemployment that effects all castes and sections.”
