In Ajmer, Alwar and Mandalagarh bypolls, which have been dubbed as the semifinal ahead of the Rajasthan assembly election, the Congress has wiped out the ruling BJP winning all three seats with huge margins.

With this, the Congress has logged six wins in eight by-elections held in Raje’s four-year rule and it has two MPs to represent in the Lok Sabha from Rajasthan.

Beside losing the election, the major worry for the Saffron party is its vote share which has dipped drastically compared to previous election when it secured 25 all the seats in Lok Sabha election and 163 seats out of 200 in the assembly general election.

On an average, BJP has lost 18 percent vote share in the three seats, according to the tally displayed in website of CEO (chief electoral officer).

Landslide victory for Congress comes from Alwar where Karan Singh Yadav secured 57 percent votes defeating BJP’s Jaswant Singh Yadav, currently labour minister in the Raje government, who just got 40 percent vote share.

Jaswant was trailed by Karan with a margin of 196496 votes, a 17 percent of the total votes 1112761 cast. In the backdrop of the 2014 Lok Sabha election, BJP lost 20 percent and Congress gained 23 percent vote share which indicates a switch of vote share between these two parties.  BJP’s Chandnath who represented Alwar earlier had secured 60 percent votes against Congress Bhanwer Jitendra Singh’s 33.74 percent in 2014.

The margin of victory in RPCC chief Sachin Pilot’s home turf Ajmer is not much higher as Alwar, though. Raghu Sharma here dusted BJP Ramswaroop Lamba witha margin of 84414 voters, by about 7 percent of total votes of 1199489. The opposition increased its vote share by 10 percent in contrast to 2014 Lok Sabha election. At that time, Sachin Pilot had secured 40 percent which in current bypoll reached at 50.9 percent with Sharma’s victory. BJP has lost 11 percent votes in the Ajmer bypoll and its tally reached 43.9 percent against 55.16 percent when late Sanwer Lal Jat was elected.

In Mandalgarh, the Congress added only one percent to its tally of vote share compared to the 2013 assembly election. But, BJP’s 18 percent vote share has disappeared. Congress Vivek Dhakar won the seat with a margin of 12976 votes. His vote share is at 39.5 percent while his nearest rival BJP’s Shakti Singh Hada could secure 32.19 per cent.
