IPL is back to Jaipur after 4 years. And so are controversies. After bickering in the Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA), now questions are being raised about the manner in which RCA took a back seat while handing over the entire organising of IPL to Rajasthan Royals, which is just a franchisee.

The cricketing fraternity is zapped the the way Rajasthan Cricket Association (RCA); the official cricketing body of the state has been sidelined to let the entire event be organised by the Rajasthan Royals (RR); the supposedly local team; with all out of state investors. The team picked a single player from Rajasthan.

The RCA has inked agreement with RR on March 7 for organising the IPL. As per the agreement RCA takes a back seat while RR royals plays organiser for matches that are to be held in Jaipur.

“With so much infighting and factionalism, RCA has been rendered incapable of organising matches by itself. So the mantle has been taken over by the RR as it wants to hold matches here. But what alternative they have for controlling police, civil departments, ministers political setup and others, further they have a Congress politician at the helm of affairs. The RCA also does not have money as they have been banned by BCCI for last few years,” said Kishore Rungta, Former treasurer of BCCI and former secretary RCA.

“RCA will make some money, I am sure they must have bargained hard. But is their focus on cricket? The present situation affects the status of RCA. Letting out your property creates a psychological impact,” added Rungta.

“I wouldn’t want to comment on the issue. The only thing I will say is that I am glad IPL is back to Jaipur after four years. But the situation brings back memories of the glorious matches we used to organise as functionaries of RCA,” said Vimal Soni, secretary Jaipur district crict association.

Efforts to contact CP Joshi, RCA president were not successful. But according to Pinkesh (Jain) Porwal, treasurer RCA, “This RCA is a different RCA from what was earlier under Lalit Modi. Things cannot be compared. We are being paid Rs 30 lakh per match.”
