For standing up to PM Narendra Modi and BJP national president Amit Shah on the issue of state BJP chief, chief minister Vasundhara Raje got accolades from the most unexpected quarters.

Former minister and Congress leader Bharat Singh on Monday praised Raje for what he called “halting the dictatorial wheel of the chariot led by Modi and Shah. Singh said that the internal conflict in the BJP has come out in the open as evident from the stand taken by Raje, which has delayed the naming of the BJP state unit chief.

He said only Raje could muster courage to challenge high-handedness of two persons, PM Narendra Modi and Amit Shah, and did not allow them to impose their man as BJP state unit chief.

Singh also criticised central and state governments for wasting the public money on nationwide celebration of International Yoga Day on June 21 and said that he would register his protest against it by staging a sit-in outside Kota district collector’s office on International Yoga Day.

Singh said, “I am not against Yoga. But I am against the way huge public money is being wasted in the name of Yoga Day.” The money wasted in the celebration could have been well utilised for developing playgrounds at government schools and bringing succor to farmers who are forced to commit suicide, he said.
