The scorching sun couldn’t dampen his hope. After all the state had proclaimed from the rooftops that everyone will get justice in Nyay Aapke Dwar (justice at your doorstep) programme, a flagship scheme of Vasundhara Raje government that envisages dispensation of pending cases at camps organised in tehsils and village panchayats.

Like many others, Mukesh Khanna of Pushkar walked up to the nearest camp in Tilora village panchayat with his grievance and waited for his turn when he furnished his humble submission: I want a wife! The application got the patwari scratching his head. He was humoured by the nature of application, but dispensation of every application makes it mandatory for him to seek closure of the case. So, he reported the matter to senior officials of district administration.

Khanna was confident that he would get justice. In his application, he has mentioned of his wife having eloped with her lover. He has demanded that he be provided with a wife as her replacement, a demand which got the local patwari Lalit Vaishnav to take up the matter with his seniors.

Vaishnav admitted that such an application is pending for disposal.

He said the officials are to decide what to do with the application. Once a formal communication to this end is received, the applicant would be informed of the same, he added.
