Independent MLA from Khimsar Hanuman Beniwal on Sunday addressed a huge farmers’ rally at the SP Medical College grounds in Bikaner. At the third rally in the series of Hunkar Rallies being organised by Beniwal; issues related to farmers were raised.

At the same time, Beniwal gave a call for a kisan chief minister in Rajasthan after the next elections. He also declared the formation of a third front soon.At the rally; largely attended by youngsters, Beniwal called for loan waiver for farmers, doubling the minimum support price, free electricity to farmers, jobs for local youth in industrial units being set up across the state and special economic package for border areas.

Beniwal, an independent MLA, flayed the ruling BJP as well as Congress for ignoring the demands of the farmers. He took a jibe at chief minister Vasundhara Raje, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot and PCC chief Sachin Pilot. “It is now time for a third front to take over the politics of the state. Many MLAs from BJP and Congress are in touch with me and will join me at opportune moment,” thundered Beniwal Addressing the rally being held in the home bastion of LoP Rameshwar Dudi, senior leader, Lalsot MLA, Kirodilal Meena flayed Dudi and questioned his credentials as a mass leader.

He said, “Both Congress and BJP have not fulfilled the aspirations of the people and Beniwal’s mobilization has put forth a new option before them.”Political experts see these rallies by Beniwal-Meena combine as a calculated effort at creating a caste-based third front that can be mobilised to challenge the two-party system of Rajasthan. The rallies as yet being concentrated in Jat dominated areas also seek to create a pan Rajasthan acceptability.

ON A REVOLT

On the eve of the budget session of the Rajasthan Assembly, independent MLA Hanuman Beniwal has announced that he would not let the Governor read out his address. Beniwal who has been suspended from assembly on earlier occasions too for unruly behaviour said he would raise the issues of farmers and seek answers.

CONCERTED EFFORT

Political observers see the rallies as a concerted effort to ensure a share in the power pie; irrespective of which party gets a majority in the forthcoming assembly elections. They seek to create an atmosphere so ensure an encore of the the role played by Kirodi Lal Meena in the formation of the Ashok Gehlot government in 2003. Albeit this time by the Beniwal-Meena combine.
