While it appeared that the Lalit Modi and CP Joshi camps had put aside differences to ensure the overall well being of cricket in the state, things have suddenly gone sour all over again when the IPL is almost upon us. On Saturday, Rajasthan Cricket Association’s secretary RS Nandu in a letter to the association’s president CP Joshi objected on the appointment of one Bhawani Shankar Samota as the the one point contact on behalf of RCA. In the letter Nandu wrote to Joshi it was written, “Further to your mail dated 20th March, 2018 wherein you have mentioned that on February 1 you had communicated to BCCI that one Bhawani Shankar Samota will be the one point contact on behalf of Rajasthan Cricket Association. He has been dealing with BCCI, Rajasthan Royals and all other stake holders and will continue to do so.”

Not approving of it, Nandu said, “I put on record that I have no information about any such appointment. More so, I fail to understand as who Mr. Somota is to act on behalf of RCA.To the best of my knowledge Bhawani Shankar Samota is your P.A. but is not associated with RCA or any of its affiliates. He is not employee of or in executive committee of RCA.”

He further added that how a rank outsider without the information to the secretary has been nominated as the point man to deal with RCA-BCCI issues, let alone a crucial event like IPL in Jaipur.

“As per the order of Rajastahn High Court dated 05th February, 2018 whereby the modalities for hosting IPL in Jaipur were set out by RCA has been directed to coordinate with BCCI through a committee,” the letter read.

“A committee comprising Shiv Charan Mali, Sumendra Tiwari, Vinod Saharan, Sanyam Lodha, Vivek Vyas, Sushil Sharma and Mahender Sharma with undersigned as the convener has so far been formed to this effect but rather than putting the committee in forefront a rank outsider has been nominated as the sole person to deal with BCCI and Rajasthan Royals,” Nandu’s letter further quoted.

Nandu has further requested Rahul Johri, CEO of BCCI and concerned officials of Rajasthan Royals to refrain from dealing with Samota as the so called one point contact of RCA.

DISSENT OVER TODAY’S MEET

RCA’s treasurer Pinkesh Kumar Jain has shown dissent over Executive Committee meeting that CP Joshi intends to hold today. In a letter he shot to RCA’s joint secretary Mahendra Nahar, who belongs to Joshi camp, he pointed out, “Calling a meeting of the Executive Committee without a Notice of 7 days is in complete violation of the Article 19 of the Constitution of RCA. A minimum 7 days Notice is required mandatorily to be published by the Hony. Secretary of RCA. Therefore the Notice issued by you to hold the meeting on less then 1 day Notice is illegal and unconstitutional. The undersigned will not be able to attend the meeting of the Executive Committee on such short Notice.”
