Constituted to ensure accelerated implementation of development projects, a government promoted society for Green and Safe Jaipur held its first meeting in couple of years at head office of Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) on Friday.

The ‘Harit aur Surakshit Jaipur’ society has been constituted in accordance with state government budget announcement of 2014 and its executive committee was announced in September 2016 but its office-bearers took a considerable time to meet for the first time.

“The process for selection of members and other formalities took the time. The society shall work efficiently now onward as its offices have been completed,” said MLA Surendra Pareek, who is among the three local MLA members of the society.

Amazingly, he was the only member MLA to be present at the long-awaited meeting of the society held at JDA. The society executive committee headed by Jaipur development commissioner, includes three local MLAs, three councillors, representatives of trade bodies, citizen organisations and several government departments.

The committee has been constituted to accelerate development pace by garnering support from local organisations and private institutions.

At its first meet on Friday, the society decided to draft a plan for holding monthly meetings with various stakeholders from July onward. These meetings to be attended by community liaison groups (CLG) office-bearers, local MLA, councillors, local resident associations and officers at JDA and JMC shall accept and discuss proposals related to implementation of development projects in the respective area.

Officials of police, JMC and JDA made presentations at the meeting regarding works being carried by their departments to make Jaipur more livable.
