Govt will give MNREGA more power: Sachin Pilot

Pilot was replying to the supplementary question of MLA’s during the question hour in the assembly on Tuesday.

The state government will be giving more strength to Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA), informed deputy chief minister Sachin Pilot in the assembly on Tuesday. He said that the pending payment under MNREGA will be made at the earliest. Pilot was replying to the supplementary question of MLA’s during the question hour in the assembly on Tuesday. 

He said that MNREGA had finished in last 3-4 years but now from January 5, a special drive has been started. Under this, the man hours have increased from 12.52 lakhs to 23.46 lakhs.

Pilot mentioned that Rajasthan is a leading state from the point of MNREGA and therefore, a “Kaam Maango Abhiyan” has been started. He also informed that timely payment to 83% was being made under MNREGA. Before that, replying to the main question asked by MLA Girdharilal he said that in Bikaner, 9026 permanent structures were made since January 1, 2016, till now. He said that under this scheme, payment of Rs 3757.51 lakh was outstanding.

He assured that after the amount under materials head from rural development ministry was received, pending payment will be made. Earlier, while replying to another question, parliamentary affairs minister Shanti Dhariwal informed that the government was not considering starting the old pension scheme instead of the current new pension scheme in the state.

He said that 28 states across the country had accepted this system and there was no thought of replacing it with the old pension scheme. Dhariwal was replying for the department of finance in the house during the question hour.

He said that new pension scheme was started from January 1, 2004, and informed that about 4 lakh employees were giving contribution in this. He said that it was not being considered because the Union government had issued a notification after which the new pension scheme was implemented.

The payment

Dy CM Sachin Pilot informed that timely payment to 83% was being made under MNREGA.
