The state government, on Tuesday, reviewed the position of recruitments and joining of applicants of the Gurjar community in various government posts, ahead of Rajasthan Gaurav Yatra’s second leg which begins from Bharatpur division from Thursday. Tuesday’s meeting comes in view of the call given by the Gurjars to oppose the yatra.

A meeting between the Gurjar leaders including Kirori Singh Bainsla and social justice and empowerment minister Arun Chaturvedi is also planned for Wednesday in the secretariat. The Gurjar leaders have given call of opposing the yatra which will pass through Karauli and Hindaun on August 17. These areas are considered as Gurjar dominant. In view of this the government has gone in action mode,  and a review meeting was taken by chief secretary DB Gupta in the secretariat on Tuesday. Officials discussed the position of 1 per cent reservation given to the Gurjars and the status of recruitments on various posts keeping in mind the probable meeting on Wednesday.

Sources revealed that the issue relates to joining in about 78 posts of which about 63 are in education department. The high court has put a stay on these posts. Sources informed that once the matter is clear from the court then the recruitment on these posts will be held. This is not the first time that the government has gone into action mode to avert a crisis. While this meeting has been planned two days ahead of Gaurav Yatra’s Bharatpur leg, the government had issued an order on July 3 barely a few days ahead of prime minister Narendra Modi’s Jaipur visit on July 7 when the Gurjars had threatened to oppose the visit. The order that was released ahead of PM’s Jaipur visit had directed the departments to give 1 per cent reservation to the Gurjars in the vacancies with creation of additional posts.

Meeting planned

A meeting between the Gurjar leaders including Kirori Singh Bainsla and social justice and empowerment minister Arun Chaturvedi is also planned for Wednesday in the secretariat.
