On the occasion of furnishing agriculture progress data during four-year rule of current BJP government in Rajasthan, state agriculture minister Prabhu Lal Saini on Thursday once again said that plight of farmers in the state will be better in coming days.“We don’t have any Jadu Mantra, but state government is committed to double the farmer’s income by 2020 and innovations in the field of farming and agro-marketing will definitely help to achieve the motive in the desired time.

I believe that the income of a farmer will be four to five fold,” Saini said.

Comparing BJP government’s four years successful data with the former Congress government’s poor figures in agriculture, Saini informed that the annual budget of agriculture, ahusbandry, and agro-marketing has been raised to Rs 9551 crore, which was 62 per cent higher than the previous Gehlot government.

Saini said that over 4.1 crore farmers’ crop insurance claims worth Rs 493 crore were settled in the four years. However, on the BJP government’s promise to loan waiver, Saini dodged the ball into others court saying that it would be decided by the Cooperative Department by early next year. “A high-power committee set up by CM Raje is working and surveying the other states,” Saini said.

Rejecting the allegation of farmer suicides, Saini claimed there was not a single case of a farmer committing suicide in last four-year rule.“ An Agro-Tourist Centre of Excellence would be set up at Mount Abu, for which 3.5 hectares of land would be acquired, after and after its success a similar centre would be set up at Kota, Bassi, and Dilwara, he announced.
