The body of Ganga, a 13-year-old girl, who was abducted on October 2012 from the slums near Khada Ganesh Mandir in Kota was exhumed from the grave in Deoli town of Tonk district on Tuesday for DNA examination and postmortem.

The accused in the case, a 30-year-old man was arrested from Kishanganj area of Baran district on June 15. According to  ASI and investigating officer Babu Lal Meena, Ganga was allegedly abducted by her neighbour identified as Jeevan Kumawat (30), who later married her.

During the police interrogation, the accused admitted that the girl had died about one and half year ago after consuming poison and he secretly buried her at a place in Deoli in Tonk district. This confession aroused police’s suspicion which sought the permission from the court to exhume the body to determine the exact cause of the death. A medical board on Wednesday conducted DNA test and postmortem of the body which has been reduced to a skeleton, the ASI said. The accused Kumawat, who is already married and father of two children, has been booked under Section 363, 366, 306, 201 and 120 (b) of IPC, the ASI said.

The accused’s  wife has also been made a co-accused in the matter under Section 120 (b) as she was aware of the presence of the abducted minor girl in her home and knew about her death and burial but did not reveal it to anybody  and cooperated with the accused. Kumawat is currently in judicial custody which is going to expire on Thursday when he would be again produced before the court, he said.
