In an interesting development, Chandresh Kumari, the sister of erstwhile ruler of Jodhpur Gaj Singh, reached Sanwrad on Thursday to offer condolences and express solidarity with Anandpal Singh’s family.

Presence of Kumari, a former Congress MP and central minister, in Sanwrad where she was greeted by local Congress leaders have given a new twist to Anandpal encounter.

Meanwhile, the Anandpal cremation issue shows no signs of reaching an amicable resolution. It has been more than two weeks since the dreaded gangster was killed in an encounter and his family has refused to budge an inch from their stand that they will not cremate him till their demands are met. On Thursday, three women members of Anandpal’s family travelled to Churu to meet the Superintendent of Police and lodge a complaint. However, the meeting did not materialise as one of the members fell ill and had to be taken to a hospital.

Early in the morning, Anandpal’s wife,  Raj Kanwar, sister Bhanwar Kanwar and younger daughter Yogita went to Churu to meet the SP. The family had gone there to lodge a complaint alleging that the encounter was fake. They were accompanied by their lawyer, Kan Singh Rathore. However, at the office, the sister complained of uneasiness and was taken to a nearby hospital.

The family then returned home without meeting the SP. As per sources, the family is trying to lodge a complaint with the police. However, if this does not work out, then they plan to move the court.

Meanwhile, adding a new twist to the tale, history sheeter Himmat Singh’s wife met SOG officers on Thursday and moved an application seeking security. Himmat Singh had been murdered by members of the Anandpal gang.

“She was apprehensive about her safety amidst the current situation, and has moved an application seeking security,” SOG sources said.

COMPLAINT AGAINST 33 POLICE OFFICIALS

A complaint has been registered against 33 police officials involved in the Anandpal encounter. The gangster’s wife had filed a report in the matter after which the FIR was registered. IG of SOG Dinesh M N, IG Bikaner range Bipin Chandra Pandey, SP Churu Rahul Barhat, SP SOG Sanjay Shotriya, Additional SP SOG Karan Sharma, CO Kuchaman Vidhya Prakash are some of the cops mentioned in the FIR. Interestingly, the FIR has been registered against those cops who have been connected with the matter in one way or the other.

‘WHY OBJECTING TO CBI PROBE’

AICCI general secretary Digvijay Singh too has come out in support of a CBI probe into the encounter of gangster Anandpal Singh. Singh said that when the entire Rajput community is agitating over this demand then why is the state government objecting to a CBI probe. The senior Congress leader said this while talking to mediapersons. Singh added that if Anandpal was an anti-social element then he could have been arrested by the police and after that the court would have done justice against him.

DEVA THAKUR VISITS

Cashing in on the caste-based sentiments, controversial firebrand Sadhvi Deva Thakur also visited Sanwrad village and offered condolences to Anandpal Singh’s family. Dressed in her trademark saffron and exhibiting her flamboyant style, the godwoman expressed her solidarity with the family.
